00:0-1 Hi Parents is Miss Emily from the land and played
00:02 Montessori team . Starting on a Montessori journey and introducing
00:07 some montessori aspects into your child's life is a really
00:11 exciting time , Both for yourself and for your child
00:15 . Follow this video to find out how you can
00:18 start using some Montessori methods in your child's bedroom .
00:26 Your child's bedroom is a great place for your child
00:30 to be able to grow and use their independence .
00:34 So in order for them to do this , you
00:37 need to make their bedroom as accessible to themselves as
00:40 possible . Starting off with their bed , choosing a
00:46 low frame bed that's close to the floor allows your
00:49 child to climb on and off their bed with these
00:53 by themselves when they wish to . The style of
00:57 bed is completely up to you . You may choose
01:00 a larger house style beds such as this in the
01:03 video . Or you may choose something simpler like a
01:06 mattress . This place close to the floor next .
01:11 You really need to be thinking about how you organize
01:13 your child's toys . Will your child be able to
01:16 independently take their toys out and will they know what
01:20 kind of toys they are taking out ? Labelling is
01:23 really important . Not only does it help your child
01:26 to categorize things , but it also makes cleanup time
01:29 a lot easier . I've chosen to shells with three
01:34 layers and this has helped me to organize the toys
01:36 . They're all at my child height so she can
01:39 reach them and take them out as she wishes on
01:42 this bottom shelf . I have chosen some toys that
01:45 are categorized and sorting shapes and colors . Next I
01:50 have put all of her reading books together so that
01:52 she can see them and choose which one she would
01:54 like . I also have a shelf full of fine
01:58 motor toys , some puzzles as well as some magnets
02:02 and a white board . Mhm . Yeah . Yeah
02:11 . Again , moving onto her fine motor toys .
02:17 I have a little box of threading beads as well
02:20 as some pop up toys on the top shelf .
02:23 I like to keep it pretty empty . So we
02:26 have her little calendar as well as some piggy banks
02:29 . Again , some fine motor activities where she can
02:32 practice slotting the coins into the top of the piggy
02:35 bank . As you can see her toys are not
02:39 too crowded . We also have a little reading nook
02:43 for her so that she feels right at home in
02:45 her own bedroom . Last of all organize a space
02:49 for your child that allows them to pick out their
02:52 clothes independently . It's all about putting things at their
02:56 level . So find shelves and wardrobes that are too
03:00 high for them to reach and grab . Okay .
03:12 Yeah .

DESCRIPTION:

Join Miss Emily to learn how to use Montessori methods in the child's room. (Learn more at https://www.learnandplaymontessori.co...). Make their room a learning opportunity. It can start with reading together and it can go into tasks such as learning to make the bed, put on their pajamas, and other 'tasks' associated with daily life. Another idea - organize the child's toys so that they can easily access their toys and put them back correctly. Shelves are a great way to do this, keeping the toys uncrowded and close to the child's level. Similarly with clothes and the closet.
