00:11 mm mm . We teach our students knew english words
00:31 like in every class and at the end of the
00:34 course or the semester , most of the students of
00:37 course not all of them . Unfortunately forget these new
00:41 terms . So today I'm going to share four fun
00:45 , easy to do activities to review new vocabulary words
00:48 with your E . S . L . Students and
00:51 make them stick forever . I mean hopefully I'd love
00:54 to tell you that this is a collab video with
00:57 the awesome the language ladies . So don't forget to
01:00 check her vocabulary activities video as well . Link is
01:03 in the description below . Let's go , I don't
01:06 know the name of this activity but let's call it
01:08 the line and this activity you have to prepare .
01:12 Nothing . All you gotta do is divide your class
01:16 . No matter how big or small into two groups
01:19 ask the students to stand in two lines facing the
01:22 board on the board , you'll draw line and on
01:25 top of that line , right these three rules with
01:28 that explaining anything lesson related , three points not related
01:33 to points misspelled minus point . I like to give
01:37 the students a couple of minutes . Let them try
01:40 to guess what the game is and then I fully
01:44 exposed my game . So you tell them the first
01:46 students standing on the line , right ? A word
01:49 on the board . Let's say they wrote banana .
01:51 Then they hand the pen to the students standing right
01:55 after them and go to the back of the line
01:57 . The second student must write a new word that
01:59 ends with the last letter of the previous word .
02:02 I think you get it right now let's say they
02:04 wrote airplane . The second student gives the pen to
02:08 the third and the third to the fourth and so
02:10 on until the end of the line . If your
02:12 classes small , I set a timer so students have
02:16 to keep writing words still . For example , two
02:18 minutes are over . Let's get back to the rules
02:21 . Remember this is a review activity . So obviously
02:24 we have to review some words . Right ? So
02:27 let's say the lesson was about food . If students
02:30 right , food related words , they get three points
02:33 for every word . But if they write words that
02:35 are not food related , they get two points and
02:38 the third rule is pretty obvious if they must spell
02:41 the word , they lose a point . Because yes
02:45 , we're reviewing vocab but also we want to make
02:47 sure they remember how to write these new vocabulary words
02:52 . You can replace food within the lesson , you're
02:55 teaching like clothes , transportation , furniture , pretty much
02:59 anything . So here we are encouraging the students to
03:02 squeeze their brains to remember the words they've taken and
03:07 they're doing it while having fun away from their chairs
03:10 and books , working as a team because at one
03:13 point or another they gotta help each other . At
03:16 the end of the game you have a little math
03:18 class counting the points and the line with the more
03:21 points wins . What do they win ? It's up
03:25 to you . Activity two is pictionary . It's very
03:30 popular game and I love it so much and I
03:33 thought let's make it even more popular here . You
03:36 have to do one thing only which is writing all
03:39 new words that you've already taken on cards and spread
03:42 them facing down on the table . So here we're
03:45 having one category only as an example let's say being
03:49 said , I love to add some saucepans . So
03:52 I include a couple of cards that say lucky ,
03:55 which means you get a point without even trying another
03:59 one with unlucky And here the elusive point also without
04:04 trying , I usually divide the class into two teams
04:09 . But if it was a large class then three
04:12 or four groups . A student from the first team
04:15 will pick a card and they have 20 seconds to
04:18 draw the word on the card . If the first
04:20 team gets the word before time is up , they
04:23 get a point and team stick turns till we finish
04:26 reviewing all the words we want them to remember .
04:29 This game is hilarious because not all students are born
04:34 artists and they'll laugh at their drawings . They'll get
04:38 really upset if they get the unlucky card and they'll
04:41 try hard is so fun . I'm going to call
04:45 the third activity . Close your books or turn down
04:49 your papers if your listeners on papers like the first
04:52 activity , all you gotta do is nothing . I
04:55 know you now think that I'm a lazy teacher which
04:58 is a true , but that's a different story .
05:01 Let's get back to the game , let's say you
05:03 have this lesson about occupations and you explain all of
05:07 these different jobs and their meanings and now you think
05:11 oh I'm going to make sure students just won't forget
05:13 them to make this happen , divide the class into
05:16 as many groups as you wish . Tell them to
05:19 have one final look at all these occupations and then
05:22 ask them to close their books with some groups .
05:25 I asked them to even put their books down because
05:28 they sneak peek and this is not the point of
05:31 this activity after you make sure old books are closed
05:34 or even down . Tell them . I know you
05:37 guys got the strongest memory ever and I believe in
05:41 you therefore you have to two minutes to write down
05:45 all of the occupations that we've just learned first through
05:49 action is just dropping down , but after a couple
05:52 of seconds they start tracking their brains to remember all
05:56 of the new words . And because they've just learned
05:59 these words , it's going to be easier for them
06:01 to remember the words and harder to be forgetting .
06:05 Later on my last activity is string it or grab
06:09 it first . For this activity we need a table
06:12 bell or it's not available . Think of something .
06:15 Students can grab like a small ball or a yarn
06:19 or if you can't afford it , a piece of
06:22 candy or chocolate would be great . You'll prepare a
06:25 list of review questions , divide the class into two
06:29 teams to get all students engaged . Ask when student
06:32 of each team to come to your desk and face
06:34 their counterparts on the desk . Place your table bell
06:38 or your bowl or your chocolate . Tell them you'll
06:41 ask them a question and the student who knows the
06:43 answer must first rank the bell or grab the item
06:47 and then say the answer . If they get it
06:50 right there , team gets a point and if you're
06:52 going with the chocolate idea , then they just get
06:55 the chocolate and repeat the exact thing with the rest
06:58 of the students . Try to vary your questions .
07:00 My favorite is when I asked them to name three
07:03 things like name three appliances . We've just learned name
07:07 three types of shoes , name three pieces of furniture
07:10 . And sometimes after I've asked like four or five
07:13 questions from their book , I like to trick them
07:16 and ask them a very random not lesson related to
07:19 question . Like what did you have for dinner yesterday
07:22 ? Where what's your best friend's name ? Something like
07:25 that . That's pretty good . I hope you find
07:29 these lazy teacher vibe activities useful and make sure to
07:34 check the language lady channel for more amazing DSL videos
07:38 . Thank you Doctor harmful for this lovely collapse .
07:41 Thank you for always looking for ways to make your
07:44 class is awesome and thank you for your time .
07:50 Mhm . Mhm .
