00:06 All right , very good . I want you to
00:17 turn your page . Turn your book to page 279
00:25 . Yeah . Mhm . Page 279 at the top
00:36 . It says expanding with modifiers . We just spoke
00:40 about modifiers how the adjectives modify . What ? What
00:44 did the adjective modified the now ? All right .
00:47 So we're using modifiers . My modifiers are words and
00:50 phrases that tell more about or modify the meaning of
00:54 other words . My modifiers can make sentences growth sentences
00:58 stronger by adding important details . Notice how the modifiers
01:01 change the following sentences and simply just like the ones
01:04 we did yesterday when we said , well what is
01:06 the sentence that we came ? What is the same
01:08 as you came up with yesterday ? I actually see
01:10 it . It said we ran and saw a deer
01:15 running around . All right . So we added modestly
01:17 ran and saw deer running around . We added modified
01:19 to that to make it stronger . Same thing I
01:21 watched the bus leave . How did they add modify
01:23 us to make this ? Make the sentence a little
01:27 stronger . It's stronger but it's only a little stronger
01:29 . What is the second one say ? I watched
01:34 the last bus leave um And the 3rd sentence .
01:45 Okay , what is the difference in the two ?
01:49 Actually ? What's the difference in the three ? What's
01:51 the difference between the first one and the second sentence
01:56 ? So what do you think is what do you
01:57 think is the difference between the first sentence and the
02:00 second sentence ? The first and the second sentence .
02:03 The first sentence has its okay , but second sentence
02:06 as a little detail so it helps the reader not
02:10 just know that the person caught wasn't waited for watched
02:13 by bus leave , but the last bus that gives
02:16 it a little more meaning . Yes . I don't
02:18 know if anybody's ever called the bus , but it's
02:20 it's a terrible feeling to watch the very last was
02:23 leave . That means you got to find another way
02:24 to get to wherever you're going . All right .
02:26 What is it ? What is the difference between that
02:28 sentence and the sentence following that one , Jessica .
02:34 Um , it's the last the second and the last
02:38 one shows that he was probably running . That person
02:42 was probably running waiting for the bus and actually laughed
02:46 adds more detail as a lot more detail . It
02:50 helps the reader understand something that that person is actually
02:54 going through . Yes , It's a big difference for
02:56 saying . Or I watched the last bus leave and
02:59 then come in and saying , gasping for breath .
03:01 I watched the last bus leave from the parking lot
03:03 . All right . So it's it's a lot more
03:05 detail . It's a stronger sentence . These are the
03:08 sentences we should write . That's why when you give
03:10 me a sentence yesterday , like we ran And so
03:13 you know who gave me one yesterday ? Said something
03:15 about ? It was a big it was a big
03:19 what was it ? I saw the big brown deer
03:23 . All right . I think we could do a
03:25 little better than the big brown deer . Alright .
03:27 One way is we're adding um adjectives . All right
03:30 . We're gonna try to have some more descriptive adjectives
03:33 , right ? That are more so on our level
03:35 . All right . What I'm gonna do what we're
03:37 gonna do is go over . We're gonna I'm gonna
03:39 let you and your group modify these few sentences .
03:43 And then we're gonna modify our post card and turn
03:47 it into a short letter . The postcard we wrote
03:49 yesterday . We're gonna make that into a short letter
03:51 . But right now , I'm gonna give you a
03:52 sheet of um Chart Paper . Group one . This
03:57 is what we'll do . Group one . You'll do
03:59 group You'll do sentence number two at the bottom .
04:02 Uh Your group to You'll do send this number three
04:06 . Group four . You'll do sentence number no .
04:09 Group three . You'll do sentence number four . Group
04:12 four . You'll do sentence number five will do sentence
04:14 number one together . All right . We'll just send
04:17 us number one together . Right , okay . I'm
04:22 sorry . You know . Yes . Somebody recently wants
04:31 them for me please . Well , you know ,
04:35 I can't write it that fast . The concert was
04:49 held outdoors . Yes . Yeah . The concert was
04:55 held outdoors . I want to grow this sentence first
05:02 first with by adding adjectives . Just by adding adjectives
05:07 . Alright , just by adding adjectives , we're not
05:09 gonna add anything to the beginning , middle or end
05:12 . Right now just by adding adjectives , I want
05:14 you to just discuss it with your group . What
05:16 you think would be the best some of the best
05:18 adjectives to add to this sentence to help you grow
05:21 . A little think of your think of your favorite
05:24 group you want to see and that concert . Yeah
05:28 . Okay . You are crazy . A thing of
05:31 each question . Each question that the adjectives answer they
05:38 come to . Wasn't but Okay . What do you
05:53 do ? I think it's more kind . It's not
05:56 a secret . I a affectionate thanks . I don't
06:11 love affection . It would be the best . Yeah
06:14 , I understand what you're going with , but I
06:16 don't know about affectionate . Come on . I'm only
06:20 gonna give you another another men and a half .
06:23 You already ready ? I just want to do with
06:26 it . I think we've got a beautiful outdoor .
06:33 Okay . I'd actually like to do it in a
06:35 different color marker . Thank you . Okay , they
06:43 they know you guys gave me the first . All
06:47 right . All right . What do you have ?
06:49 The fantastic concert ? Mhm . Mhm . Mhm .
07:02 Go ahead . What can I say that ? Yes
07:07 . Yes . What's out in the beautiful outdoors ?
07:13 Yeah . You guys the long belong . Yeah .
07:28 Mhm . Mindless behavior . Yes . Mhm . Mhm
07:43 . Mhm . Concert yes was held . Yeah .
07:51 Mhm . Okay . I showed him guess was held
07:57 right . Mhm . Outdoor and the great outdoors .
08:02 Yes . Mhm . Yes . You know . Mhm
08:12 . Would you guys , would you guys come up
08:13 with you have them ? The noisy mama's behavior ?
08:17 Say it one more time . The noisy yes .
08:26 Yes . Say . Okay . Mhm . All right
08:33 . Oh mindless behavior . Right . Is everybody like
08:37 a fantasy except except the boys ? Right . That's
08:49 okay . You heard a new addition you heard in
08:52 addition ? Yeah . Candy girl . Like all the
08:57 girls like them . I like them too . But
09:01 I couldn't say I like them . So it's probably
09:05 the same thing . I like them now I go
09:06 to the shows now . the noisy , mindless behavior
09:12 Speak up . Mhm . Concert What ? That's it
09:18 was held outdoors ? What's hell outdoors ? Yeah .
09:23 123 and lastly you think the reckless black eyed peas
09:32 concert ? No . Mhm . The reckless yeah .
09:43 Is it Black eye peas ? Black eyed is I'd
09:49 with you ? Sure sure actually had that the reckless
09:57 black eyed peas concert was held in the humid outdoors
10:06 . That's a little different from what you guys well
10:08 know I didn't get yours that's what it was .
10:11 Concert was held in the humid outdoors . All right
10:22 . Yeah . So . Mhm . Okay very good
10:32 . I asked you that I asked you to um
10:34 add adjectives tomato basically the modified announcing his sentence .
10:38 The concert was held outdoors first . You would have
10:41 to know what the now ones were . I think
10:46 let me see . 12 three for three out of
10:52 the four . Actually modified the now sounds alright .
10:56 Which sentence ? Which which sentence is one of the
11:00 now is not modified Ni Asia . Which 1 ?
11:03 What do you think ? Group two sectors outdoors .
11:08 What does it say ? It says the noisy mind
11:10 behavior concert was held outdoors . The noisy mindless behavior
11:14 concert was held outdoors denounce here were what I said
11:19 the towns or what concert outdoors to make to grow
11:25 that sentence . To build it to make it a
11:28 little more interesting to give a little more information at
11:31 a little more detail to it . You should have
11:34 modified both concert . I really don't know what kind
11:38 of concert it was . Uh And I know it
11:41 was held outdoors . You know I guess that's pretty
11:44 cool . The concert was held outdoors . This the
11:47 fantastic concert was held in the beautiful outdoors . That's
11:51 what I get a whole different picture between this one
11:54 and this one . Yes . it's a little more
11:56 gives a little more to the reader . The long
11:59 , mindless behavior constant was held in the great outdoors
12:03 . Very good sentence . This makes me think they
12:05 went a little too much . Like you really didn't
12:08 enjoy yourself that much . It was long . That's
12:10 why that's how I say it . I may be
12:12 wrong . All right . The noisy mindless behavior concert
12:15 . Very good . It was noisy . Was held
12:17 outdoors , should have a little something about the outdoors
12:20 . Right ? And lastly , the reckless back .
12:23 The reckless , it was reckless . I don't know
12:26 what they did . That was so reckless . I
12:28 don't know something media . It's up to you to
12:31 it's something you to continue talking about . But the
12:33 reckless black eyed peas , Black eyed peas Concert was
12:36 held in the human outdoors doesn't sound like the like
12:39 these guys had a great time . All right ,
12:42 Alright . But all are very good with all a
12:45 very good actually . That's good as well . But
12:46 next time you guys would definitely have to do what
12:50 modify the other now .
