00:00 Hello and welcome to a splendid short brand new multi
00:04 colored British cyber spatial English box introduction to adjective word
00:11 order . Today's lesson is taking place largely within the
00:17 context . Off footwear on in front of you ,
00:22 there is a picture off a shoe . On in
00:25 front of me is my shoe . How would you
00:29 describe my shoe if I were to ask you to
00:34 give me some adjectives describing my shoe ? What would
00:39 you say ? I would hazard against the first one
00:43 would be great on the second one might be holy
00:48 meaning sacred and worthy of worship or perhaps simply punctured
00:54 with holes . Yeah , if I were to ask
00:58 you to give me an even more detailed description ,
01:02 maybe you would say that it is a canvas shoe
01:05 because it's made of a kind of canvas . Material
01:09 are an expensive shoe because it costs me quite a
01:12 lot of money . Maybe you would say that it
01:15 is an old shoe because it looks old , even
01:19 though it's only three months old . Perhaps you would
01:22 say it's a big shoe because its size 44 or
01:26 a slim shoe , because it's quite thin or a
01:29 trendy shoe , because alot cool kids are wearing them
01:33 . Perhaps you would say it's a smelly shoe because
01:36 it is or a shabby shoe , because it also
01:39 is . Perhaps you would say that it's a vagabond
01:42 shoes because it's made by the company vagabond or a
01:46 Chinese shoe because it was manufactured in China . So
01:52 here we have lots off adjectives . And if we
01:55 want to use Aled , these adjectives in a sentence
01:59 to describe my shoe , we have to put them
02:03 in quite a particular word order . If you don't
02:08 use this word order , it can sound a little
02:11 bit strange . In fact , this word order comes
02:15 naturally to native speakers . First , we use the
02:19 adjective off opinion , and after that we have the
02:24 adjectives off size , age shape , color , origin
02:30 , Andi material on the board in front of you
02:36 , you have one example from each off these categories
02:41 . Can you put them in the correct order ?
02:45 So this is how it should look and how it
02:47 should sound . These are my trendy big old slim
02:53 gray Chinese canvas shoes . So trendy is the opinion
02:59 big the size old , the age slim , the
03:02 shape grade , the color Chinese , the origin on
03:06 , Of course , canvas Lee material . Now ,
03:10 of course , we don't normally use this many adjectives
03:15 to describe a noun we normally only use 12 or
03:20 perhaps three . So I might say these are my
03:24 trendy old canvas shoes . Or , I might say
03:28 , these are my big , great Chinese shoes ,
03:32 giving quite a different impression of what my shoes look
03:35 like . It's also important to remember that these are
03:40 just guidelines , and sometimes when we want to place
03:43 more emphasis on one adjective , then we put this
03:48 first . So now I'm going to hand over to
03:52 you . I want you to describe my Bonzai tree
03:58 . What do you think of my Bonzai tree ?
04:01 Is it big ? Small ? Give me some adjectives
04:05 describing it , but you can leave your answers in
04:10 the comments section below or on Facebook . If you

04:22 and superlatives . On there's another also on adverbs .
