How are the Obesity Policies failing in America?

Obesity rates have been on increasing trend last year in every state of America except one. However, the government policies and actions have offered no solution to counter this dangerous trend, according to a report by Trust for America's Health.

Mississippi has been ranked as the heaviest state, while Colorado as the least heavy. The obesity rates have remained the same in Oregon. More than 25 percent of adults in about 10 states are obese. This includes Mississippi, Alabama, West Virginia, Louisiana, Tennessee, Texas, Michigan, Kentucky, Indiana, and South Carolina. Seven of these 10 states are in the Southeastern U.S.
Approximately 119 million Americans, or 64.5 percent, of adult Americans, are either overweight or obese.

To help in combating the obesity crisis, there is a need to focus on five major questions which will help in forming better policy decisions. Some of the key policy action items that are recommended include:

Focus on Preventive Care
Changes in Food Options
Changes in Community Design
Improving School Nutrition and Physical Education
Providing Useful Information as well as Support
