Online ProgramWe love to read stories about things that have happened or make-believe.
These stories are called narratives. They have a setting (time and place where the story happened), characters (people or animals in the story), a story theme (problem, solution and sequence of events), and an ending or closure to the story.
Good narratives use descriptive words to make you want to read more. They also contain words that show the order of events (examples- first, next, then, last, finally, when, then, before, after, also). Some narratives have conversations in them, too.
Read the question and answer them to make your narrative story about going on a trip.
Your friend, Harry, and you are going on a camping trip. Which sentence would be the best to begin your story?
(Remember that description words are the best to use in writing.) Highlight your answer.
- Harry and I are going camping.
- Harry and I are excited to go camping in the Rocky Mountains.
- Harry and I are going somewhere.
- Harry and I are going on a trip.
