Since the United States is a mixture of cultures, there are many different holidays that we celebrate. One holiday that is typically American occurs every year during the fall season and is just after Halloween. On this day we think about everything we are thankful for. It is a day for eating traditional food as well as football games and a famous parade. We are talking about Thanksgiving of course. Everyone in the United States can enjoy this special day as it is a national holiday. It always takes place on the fourth Thursday of November. The President of the United States has a large celebration at the White House and pardons a turkey so it doesn't end up on someone's table. George Washington, our first president, was the one who declared this holiday a day of "thanksgiving and prayer."
