GO BACK

May 24, 2012

Dear Diary,

I just returned from my first trip to the beach. It was different than I expected. The water scared me a bit, but I tried to act cool in front of my little sister. I couldn’t let her know how much the crashing waves scared me.

Building sand castles in the sparkling white grains of sand was a blast, and I even had a chance to bury my sister. That has to be every brother’s dream, right? Well, not really, and she was able to break free from the sand wall that I had built up around her.

My favorite place wasn’t at the beach, but sitting in the balcony. I loved looking down at the emerald green waters.

Maybe when we go back again, I won’t be afraid to wander out a little farther into the water. Dad sure did seem to enjoy that a lot. Mom was a lot like me. She just wanted to stay close to the shore.

P. S. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you that we went looking for crabs three nights in a row, but we did not have any luck. It was still fun. My fear of the ocean seemed to disappear in the night.
