Skyscrapers also rely on modern building materials. Concrete and steel form the backbone of the modern skyscraper, allowing the builder to reach greater heights. Over the past decades, many advances have been made in the development of tall buildings. While the first skyscrapers wowed the world at ten or twenty stories, currently the tallest building in the word is over 2,700 feet tall.
