An astronomer used to go out every night to observe stars. He would often be seen with a telescope in one hand and a notebook in the other. One evening, while he wandered through the suburbs with his whole attention fixed on the sky, he accidentally fell into a deep uncovered well. He cried out loudly for help. As he waited there to be rescued, he lamented and bewailed his sores and bruises.

His neighbor was passing by and happened to hear his wailing and lamenting. He quickly helped the astronomer out of the well. After he came to know how the accident happened, this is what he said to the astronomer: "Why, in striving to pry into what is in heaven, do you not manage to see what is on earth?
