GO BACK

Dear Mr. Smith,

Yesterday I visited your company’s movie theater on Fourth Avenue to see the new film Return of the Giant Superhero. I have looked forward to seeing this movie for several weeks, as the advertisements on television and the previews at other movies made it seem like the most exciting movie of the year.

Because the movie is in 3-D, the ticket price was quite high at $17. I gladly paid this price, however, because I expected it to be a once in a lifetime experience, just as it was described on the poster in the lobby of your theater.

As you probably know, Return of the Giant Superhero is definitely not a once in a lifetime experience, and viewing it in your theater did nothing to improve how mediocre this movie is. First of all, I was disappointed to see that you screened the film in the smallest of your six theaters. Although only 16 of the 50 seats in the theater were filled, this is a movie intended for a large auditorium and the largest screen possible. I’m sure I would have enjoyed the film much more if I had watched it in a larger room.

Second, nothing makes a movie-experience even more fun than freshly popped popcorn. I am happy to hand over $5 for a bag of fresh, hot popcorn, but when the popcorn is ice-cold and stale to the point of being chewy, it can only make the customer’s movie experience less than perfect.

Finally, it seems that you let just about anyone into the movies these days. For the price of a ticket, anyone can walk into the theater and spend the entire two hours talking on his phone, ruining the movie for the rest of us.

In conclusion, because the movie Return of the Giant Superhero was not as good as I expected it to be, and because I had to watch it in a small theater, while eating stale popcorn and listening to someone talk on his cell phone, I would like a refund for the price of my ticket, the popcorn, and the money I spent on transportation to visit your theater.

Thank you,

James Jones
