After reviewing so many ELA third-grade English test prep books out there, this was the best. It matched perfectly to what my
son could expect from the actual test. The customer service was excellent, and everyone was super helpful with questions.
I know that my son passed with the extra help of this book!

It is tough to find resources for the new Maryland MCAP tests. This book allows for students to take a practice MCAP test
(with technology-enhanced questions) and then use the book for remediation. There are also many links to videos that will
explain the concepts. The questions in the text are very rigorous and have a real-world connection rather than students just
having to follow algorithms.

The MCAP test practice workbook has hundreds of questions and learning resources. They also come with answers and a detailed
description of each question for kids to understand their mistakes—a great resource for 4th-grade teachers or parents trying to
prepare their students for the test.

I am a retired teacher who now does math tutoring. I found this practice book very helpful for several reasons. First, I liked that each
chapter and lesson was listed to the corresponding standards that I could refer to. In addition to the answer, the answer key gave
detailed explanations as to why an answer choice was correct or incorrect. I also liked the access to EdSearch resources for each
lesson. Beneficial and easy-to-use book.
- Georgia Merchant
I have enjoyed using this book with my 7th graders. It has tons of examples and QR codes at the end of each section to let you access
additional materials. I found the answer keys to be beneficial because they are super detailed about why they are correct. I also love
that the book gives you access to two online practice tests. I found an outstanding balance of genres in the sample passages, and
I appreciated the skills breakdown for each chapter.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) About MCAP (Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program) Test
MCAP Test General Information
The Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP) is a series of standardized tests measuring student progress in English Language Arts/Literacy (ELA), Mathematics, Science, and Government against Maryland College and Career Ready Standards (MCCRS). It replaces PARCC and MSA tests.
MCAP testing covers grades 3-8 annually in ELA and Math, with Science assessed in grades 5, 8, and once in high school. Social Studies is tested in grade 8 and once in high school for government. Kindergarten Readiness is assessed for incoming kindergarteners.
Content varies by grade and subject, but generally focuses on reading comprehension, writing skills, problem-solving in math, scientific inquiry, and understanding of government concepts. Sample questions and practice tests are available online.
Testing windows vary slightly by grade and subject but typically occur between March and May. Specific dates are determined by your school district.
Students receive Individual Student Reports (ISRs) showcasing their performance on four levels: Beginning Learner, Developing Learner, Proficient Learner, and Distinguished Learner. ISRs also provide details on specific content areas and potential support needs.
