How in-service training helps improve teaching practice

Teacher in-service training is built into the academic calendars multiple times throughout the year. Such programs are used to provide differentiated professional development workshops for educators. These trainings, particularly for teachers, are essential to improve the quality of teaching. Any school’s curriculum becomes successful based on its efficient implementation. Teachers are crucial in implementing the curricula and also the educational reforms. Therefore, they have to improve and enhance the required skills to decode the concept changes correctly and to implement the revised curriculum based on its requirements and objectives.

In-service training for teachers, therefore, plays an essential role in a successful education reform wholly.
Below are some specific improvements expected after such training programs.

  1. It serves as a connection between prospective and experienced educators to meet the new challenges of ensuring that students achieve higher standards of learning and self-development.

  2. Teachers can take what they learn and go right back to their classrooms and implement good strategies.

  3. It is a professional and personal educational activity for teachers to improve their efficiency, ability, knowledge, and motivation in their career.

  4. It can also change the attitude and skills of faculty and further increase the performance of students.

  5. It also helps to improve the procedures, approaches and practices teachers use, the way students learn and how to create a unique culture in schools.

  6. It places teachers at the center of any improvement effort and ensures that effective teaching and the visions of teachers on improving their work becomes a reality.
