Lumos Learning New Literature Feature helps teachers to Discover Engaging Reading Passages and Literacy Resources for their Classroom

13th March 2018, Piscataway, NJ

Lumos Learning with it’s proven history of helping schools raise student achievement, has created a new literature feature that is easy to navigate and allows teachers to select passages based on Lexile Levels, Grade Level, Word Count or Difficulty Level. Because these passages are integrated into EdSearch, teachers will effortlessly find other resources that support the passages and associated questions they are introducing to their students with this teaching tool. Having an abundance of resources accessible with one click saves valuable time teachers can use engaging students. Speaking about the launch of this new feature Mukunda Krishnaswamy, Founder & CTO said “This ability to find reading assignments that meet the needs of a specific classroom will save Language Arts teachers a lot of time. I am excited about it’s addition to EdSearch!”

In addition to clearly defined Lexile levels, teachers are able to identify passages based on word count and ratings. Rating Levels allow teachers to assign reading passages based on an individual student’s reading level. Rating Level A provides a higher difficulty passage while a Rating Level of C offers more simple text.

Lumos’ reading passage feature is easy to navigate with clearly defined filters accessible with a single click. Most passages offer questions and quizzes to help teachers pinpoint where their students may be falling behind and need additional practice.

  • Select passages based on individual student needs
  • Lexile Levels, Readability Ratings, and Grade Level make selecting appropriate passages simple
  • Find passages relating to many subject areas such as philosophy, poetry, history, and news
  • Watch student achievement increase as they work through questions and quizzes attached to each passage
