Indiana’s Learning Evaluation and Assessment Readiness Network (ILEARN) measures student achievement and growth according to Indiana Academic Standards for English/Language Arts for grades three through eight, Mathematics for grades three through eight, Science for grades four and six, and Social Studies for grade five.

How is the ILEARN test administered?

The mode of administration for the ILEARN is online. Special Paper Version (SPV) tests are available for students unable to use a computer based on their daily instruction and IEP or 504 plan. SPV tests include Braille, large print, and regular print paper tests.

What is the ILEARN testing window for 2024?

The testing window for ILEARN for the year 2024 is as follows:
Grades 3 – 8, Math & ELA:
Online Testing Window: April 15, 2024 – May 10, 2024
Paper-and-Pencil Testing Window: April 15, 2024 – May 3, 2024

How many sections are there for each ILEARN test?

The ILEARN ELA test is divided into 2 sections (CAT and PT) and the Math test is also divided into 2 sections (CAT and PT)

What is the duration of the ILEARN test?

For the ELA tests,

  • Grade 3 ELA CAT: 90 – 125 minutes; PT: 90 – 135 minutes (Segments 1 and 2).
  • Grade 4 ELA CAT: 90 – 130 minutes; PT: 90 – 140 minutes (Segments 1 and 2).
  • Grade 5 ELA CAT: 90 – 130 minutes; PT: 85 – 130 minutes (Segments 1 and 2).
  • Grade 6 ELA CAT: 90 – 130 minutes; PT: 90 – 140 minutes (Segments 1 and 2).
  • Grade 7 ELA CAT: 80 – 110 minutes; PT: 90 – 130 minutes (Segments 1 and 2).
  • Grade 8 ELA CAT: 75 – 100 minutes; PT: 80 – 130 minutes (Segments 1 and 2).

For the Math tests,

  • Grade 3 Math CAT: 70 – 100 minutes; PT: 35 – 55 minutes
  • Grade 4 Math CAT: 70 – 100 minutes; PT: 25 – 40 minutes
  • Grade 5 Math CAT: 80 – 110 minutes; PT: 30 – 40 minutes
  • Grade 6 Math CAT: 90 – 120 minutes; PT: 30 – 50 minutes
  • Grade 7 Math CAT: 90 – 125 minutes; PT: 29 – 30 minutes
  • Grade 8 Math CAT: 85 – 125 minutes; PT: 35 – 55 minutes

What is the calculator policy for the ILEARN Math test?

The calculator policy for the ILEARN Math test is as follows:

For grades 3-5, no calculators are allowed.

For grade 6, four-function calculator during calculator segments and performance tasks only.

For grade 7 and 8, scientific calculator during calculator segments and performance tasks only.
