What is the definition of connotation?

Many words can be used in different ways for the purpose of suggesting certain meaning to the reader. A connotation can be positive (suggest something good or favorable), neutral (suggestion isn't good or bad), or negative (suggest something bad or unfavorable).

Each of the following words are related to one another, in that they are ways to describe a person. Determine whether the following words have positive, neutral, or negative connotations:
