Archaeology is the study of past human life and culture through systematically examining and interpreting the material remains left behind. These material remains include archaeological sites (e.g., settlements, building features, graves), as well as cultural materials or artifacts such as tools and pottery. Through the interpretation and classification of archaeological materials, archaeologists work to understand past human behavior. In some countries, archaeology is often historical or art historical, with a strong emphasis on cultural history, archaeological sites, and artifacts such as art objects. In the New World, archaeology can be either a part of history and classical studies or anthropology.

The history of archeology has been one of increasing professionalisation, and the use of an increasing range of techniques to obtain as much data on the site being examined as possible. The exact origins of archaeology as a discipline are uncertain. Excavations of ancient monuments and the collection of antiquities have been taking place for thousands of years. It was only in the 19th century, however, that the systematic study of the past through its physical remains began to be carried out in a manner recognisable to modern students of archaeology.

In the above passage, if your teacher asked you to rewrite the bolded sentence, how would you do it?

Drake was a newspaper boy who had a routine job of delivering newspapers. One day as he was delivering newspapers, he took a sudden turn around a sharp corner, on the main street and that too on the wrong side. A car entering that street on the right side hit him.
He rolled on the ground howling in pain and clutched his arm. An ambulance was called for and Drake was taken to the hospital.
The two men carried him on a stretcher to a bed and put him in it carefully. Soon, a nurse and a doctor came. The nurse wrote his name and address in a book. The doctor took the bandage off drakes arm, looked at it properly and put his hands on it. He said, “The arm is fractured.”
He said to the nurse, “Give him some tea to drink.”
Then he said to Drake, “Do not worry, we will do something right now. You will be alright soon!”
Drake cheered up and said, “Thank you, Doctor.”
The nurse gave him an injection to reduce his pain. She tied some bandages and applied a plaster. Drake’s arm pained him a lot and he requested the doctor to look at it. The doctor told the nurse to give him another injection. After this Drake could sleep well.
While Drake was in the hospital; many of his friends came to see him. Whenever his father and mother came to visit him, they bought some fruit, milk and books. There were several other persons suffering from different diseases in Drake’s room.
He was all right within a week and went home after saying to his roommates.
