Open educational resources (OER) are freely accessible, openly licensed documents and media that are useful for teaching, learning, and assessing as well as for research purposes. The vast ocean of resources available on the internet helps educators to put together resource kits, instructional plans, and training materials to support student success.

Searching for the relevant resources is difficult as the search results shows all the results for the keyword whether it is relevant or not. To help educators find resources easily, Lumos Learning had launched its tool called Lumos EdSearch ™.

Unlike traditional search engines like google search, Lumos EdSearch ™ is specifically designed to support needs of educators.

EdSearch is a comprehensive directory of educational videos, apps, books, audios, websites, organizations and more. With EdSearch, users can discover hundreds of learning resources based on keywords, standards, subjects, grade, etc. The database also includes thousands of grade-appropriate practice questions, worksheets, and lessons.

The new version of EdSearch makes it extremely simple to search for relevant grade specific resources and Add it to the resource kit. The resource kit can be a mix of various category of resources or a particular category such as “videos”. These resources can then be assigned to the students by teachers from the teacher portal.
